What the bid is for

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (hereinafter the “Authority” or “ACUA”) is planning between four (4) and six (6) household hazardous waste (HHW) collection days annually. Each of the events will consist of the contractor accepting household hazardous waste from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from residential households only in Atlantic County.

The Agreement shall be for an initial term of one (1) year beginning April 1, 2027 through March 31, 2028, with the ACUA having the option to extend up to two (2) additional terms of one (1) year.

Scope

Beginning in April 2027, collection days are to be held on the first Saturday or second Saturday of the month. Residents will deliver HHW to the Haneman Environmental Park, 6700 Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Since latex paint will be collected on the same date and times as HHW, the contractor will be responsible for the smooth coordination of its activities with those of other potential contractors. Contractor will be responsible for sorting this latex paint from the HHW, stacking it in an ACUA provided roll-off container maximizing air space and tarping roll-off at the end of collection. [...]

The vendor will set up, unload and accept, collect, transport and dispose of the household hazardous waste delivered during the event. [...] The scheduled events are rain or shine. The vendor will separate all rechargeable batteries at no cost to the ACUA. [...]

The contractor will provide all the required and necessary equipment and manpower to conduct the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program. A forklift is required for each collection event. [...] The contractor must provide at a minimum twenty (20) experienced employees at all collection events for the duration of the collection, unless otherwise specified by ACUA site manager’s approval with a minimum of (fifteen) 15 large utility carts. [...]

Quantity: minimum or zero (0) to a maximum of 145,000 pounds.
