The purpose of the grant program is to create and expand equitable access to dual enrollment programs across the state, where high school students have the opportunity to earn college credit while building the knowledge and skills needed for college and career aspirations. These programs can save students time and money in college and positively impact high school and college outcomes. In this grant program, economically disadvantaged high school students must incur no costs when they enroll in college courses.
New York State school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) are eligible to apply. [...] Charter schools and nonpublic schools may not apply for this grant or participate in the College in High School program.
The eligible applicant must submit one partnership agreement with one or more eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) to NYSED. The partnership may also include other entities that have a role in the program, such as businesses and community-based organizations. Eligible IHEs include New York State public, private, or independent degree-granting colleges and universities whose programs are registered with NYSED. For-profit IHEs are not eligible to serve as a higher education partner.
