What the bid is for

Sealed bids for the Water Treatment Plant Clearwell Upgrades, Bid #DPW2026-04, for the Village of Tuxedo Park, New York, will be received at the Village Administration Office at 80 Lorillard Road, Tuxedo Park, NY 10987 United States until **10:30 AM prevailing time, on December 9, 2026** at which time and place said bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The Village of Tuxedo Park's water treatment plant is located at 1 Chastellux Lane, Tuxedo Park, NY 10987. Modifications to the existing clearwells are required to increase the disinfection effectiveness in the treatment plant. Baffles are to be installed in existing two (2) rectangular clear wells to reduce hydraulic short-circuiting in the clear wells.

Scope

Minor modifications to the clearwell influent piping / valves are specified to reduce short circuiting and optimize flow characteristics. The clearwell effluent valves are also to be replaced to allow complete isolation of the clearwells.

Baffles are to be installed in one (1) clearwell at a time, allowing the water treatment plant to remain in service through the other clearwell for the duration of the project.

The scope of work for each baffle installation shall include clearwell drain down, power wash / inspect walls and floor, install baffles, disinfect, drain, and collect water quality samples prior to returning clearwells to service to confirm they are free of bacteria and organic contaminants. Sealing of any cracks noted in the clearwell walls is to be done on a time and materials basis.

In addition to the clearwell baffle work, concrete crack repairs and modifications to plant operational controls and the chemical feed system are required to ensure disinfection control and stability. The existing chlorine feed system will be upgraded to be flow paced, which will require the addition of an ultrasonic flow meter on the clearwell influent pipe, a chemical feed pump / controller upgrade and modifications to the WTP control program.

The existing WTP control panel will require program / hardware modifications as needed to:

  • Provide control of clearwell level using the existing level indicator. Details of the level controls required are provided in the contract documents.
  • Ensure clearwell level controls are in place and functional before either clearwell is taken out of service for baffle installation.
  • Allow other plant control conditions / operating modifications noted in contract documents.

The existing filter backwash (BW) pumps are at the end of their service life and are in need of replacement. In- kind replacement of the BW pumps is to be included in this contract as a bid-alternate.
