Educator Preparation Program Support Services

The City of Ames is accepting bids from qualified vendors for two (2) upfits for Electric Distribution Utility Maintenance truck chassis for the Fleet Services Department.

The following specifications were developed for the purchase and installation of one new fiberglass utility body, lift gate, Prime Design ladder rack, and other accessories specified herein. This body is to be mounted onto 2 new 2027 F-350 chassis with four wheel drive (4x4), crew cab, gas engine, 60-inch cab to axle, dual rear wheels (DRW) and equipped with a factory trailer brake controller, backup camera, and in-dash auxiliary switch bank. The chassis are expected to be delivered in January.

Two Utility Body, 108" Fiberglass, with Accessories, Spec #VT-U1560/1566.

This is only for the upfits; a truck chassis quote is not needed.

Fiberglass utility body

• Length: 108 inches (estimated); width: 94 inches; side compartment height: 42 inches; side compartment depth: 20 inches.
• Will fit a new chassis with a 60-inch cab to axle.
• Street side and curb side compartments configured as specified, with adjustable shelves, hot-stick shelf, 18 drawer parts cabinet and swivel material hooks.
• Aluminum tread plate bed floor, 3/16" aluminum treadplate sides, E-Track and cargo tie-downs.

Accessories

• Hydraulic lift gate: Tommy Gate, model 54-1040-TP27, 1300 lb. capacity.
• Prime Design model UXR-001-E ladder rack (this make and model required).
• Aluminum tool baskets, water cask holder, fold-up steps, rear grip strut bumper/step, trailer hitch, 7-pin trailer electrical receptacle.
• Aluminum cab guard, beacon light, rear strobe lights, spot lights, cargo light, arrow stick/directional light, Truck-Lite exterior lighting package.
• Back up alarm, cone holder, PVC storage tube, rock guards, non-skid paint coatings.
• Inverter (2400 watt minimum, pure sine) with battery charger, two AGM batteries, aluminum battery box and 300-amp isolator.
• Running boards: Luverne Brand Grip Steps, Model 415088 (required).
• Splash guards and mud flaps, cab accessories, OEM and additional upfitter accessory switches, backup camera installation.

Warranty and manuals

• Bidder shall provide one (1) year warranty on materials, for every major component purchased and installed on this unit, and for workmanship from his/her shop.
• Bidder shall provide OEM manuals available for all major components installed on the delivered vehicle.

**Submission:** The preferred method is to submit bids in AmesBids at amesbids.ionwave.net in the format required. You must download *2027-052 Specifications - Bid Form*, complete the form, and submit the document under the Response Attachments tab. If technical issues occur while submitting the bid, contact the Procurement Specialist for the bid and determine an alternate method to receive the bid.

All responses must be submitted before the deadline. No late responses will be reviewed.

No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids.

Bidders taking exception to any items shall clearly state what the exception is and why. Each bidder shall furnish a copy of the manufacturer's specifications or complete supporting data.

The prices quoted are exclusive of all taxes. All bids shall specify F.O.B. Ames, IA and bid prices shall be inclusive of all freight and transportation costs.

A 1% local consideration shall be applied to acceptable bids from businesses located within Ames City limits and paying commercial property tax.

The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to make such awards as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
