What the bid is for

The City of Fargo Fire Department requests quotations for one (1) complete, reusable vehicle extrication training simulator for repeated hands-on instruction using standard hydraulic rescue tools. The system shall support realistic extrication techniques while reducing reliance on salvage vehicles.

Scope

Minimum Technical Specifications

General Construction and Mobility

  • Purpose-built, durable training apparatus suitable for repeated fire service training and outdoor use.
  • Stable base/support structure designed to withstand forces generated during the manufacturer-approved rescue-tool exercises.
  • Reusable design with replaceable or resettable components for repeated training evolutions.
  • Include a mobility system (jack/casters, wheels, or equivalent) to reposition the apparatus on-site; disclose surface, staffing, and equipment limitations.
  • Identify assembled dimensions, weight, storage requirements, and any anchoring or site preparation needs.

Training Functions

The proposed equipment shall support the following functions. Vendors shall explain how each is performed and identify any limitations, separate accessories, or consumables required:

  • Vehicle door access, forcing/spreading, hinge separation, and door removal simulation.
  • Hydraulic cutter operations and structural vehicle-member cutting exercises.
  • A- and B-post cutting/removal simulation or a functionally equivalent vehicle-post exercise.
  • Dashboard lifting, rolling, or displacement exercises using hydraulic rams and/or spreaders.
  • Compatibility with common fire service hydraulic cutters, spreaders, and rams without requiring purchase of a proprietary rescue-tool platform.
  • Repeatable/resettable exercises with an explanation of how many operations the supplied consumables support.

Initial Consumables and Ongoing Costs

  • Include an initial consumables/reset package sufficient for at least **30** individual replacement/cutting operations, or document an equivalent initial training capacity; distinguish individual operations from complete training evolutions.
  • Itemize quantities and types of all included consumables.
  • Provide pricing for additional replacement materials and identify typical usage per exercise.

Delivery, Assembly, and Optional Equipment

  • Quote a firm delivered price to Fargo, North Dakota, including freight and handling. Identify any delivery cost exceptions.
  • State estimated lead time after purchase order and whether unloading requires a forklift, liftgate, or other equipment.
  • Identify whether assembly/setup is included and any work required of City personnel.
  • Quote a vehicle tow package separately as an option.
  • Quote manufacturer on-site training separately as an option, including travel costs.
